Sergey Chemezov, General Director of “Rostec” (State Corporation “Russian Technologies”) discussed prospects for expanding business of Rostec in Pakistan with Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources, during their meeting in Moscow.

Priority will be given to current projects in the gas sector, in particular, the construction of gas pipeline “North-South”, which has been entrusted to the holding “RT Global Resources” as a part of an intergovernmental agreement between the two countries.

The two sides noted the progress in the implementation of the project which is the basis for economic cooperation between Russia and Pakistan in the field of energy. At the current stage, the parties are working on defining the route of the gas pipeline “North-South”. It is planned to sign a commercial agreement in 2016 between Rostec and the Pakistani partners ISGSL for the construction of the gas pipeline.

At the meeting, the Pakistani Minister observed that to strengthen the coordination of the Russian and the Pakistani side at the level of the concerned ministers, it was decided to set up a special working group of deputy energy minister of Russia and the deputy minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources of Pakistan.

The gas pipeline “North-South” will be the first major joint project in the oil and gas sector in the recent history of the two countries. For the Russian business, it opens new high-margin markets in Asia. Construction of the pipeline will not only provide opportunities for new projects in the field of energy infrastructure in Pakistan, but also open a new market for Russian companies, and allow an increase in Russian exports of finished products.

As part of the growth of relations with Pakistan, “Russian Helicopters” are ready to offer civilian helicopters to Pakistan, as well as a whole range of services for their after-sales maintenance. KAMAZ is working on growing cooperation with the company “Biboji Services Private Limited” to promote Russian automobile cargo technology in Pakistan.
