Cricket is revived in St. Petersburg.

On August 23, 2013 in St. Petersburg, at SKA Sports Palace stadium, the cricket match of TWENTY20 format took place. The PAKISTAN-11 team and the multi-national team of Russian Business Council for Cooperation with Pakistan, competed in a friendly match.

The event was held with efforts of the Russian Business Council for cooperation with Pakistan, and personally Sergey Mikaelyan, director of St-Petersburg branch office of the Business Counsil. Sergey noted, that in late 19th-eatrly 20th century (before 1917 Bolshevik revolution), there were four cricket clubs resided in St. Petersburg, including the oldest Russian club – “Petrogradsky cricket and lawn tennis club”. Back then, cricket matches were held on a regular basis in St.Petersburg. Today Russia-Pakistan Business Council take the opportunity to revive and popularize this noble tradition.
