On 20 January 2023, the 8th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic and Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was held in Islamabad.

From Pakistan, the Federal Minister of Economy, Sardar Aayaz Sadik, addressed the Intergovernmental Commission. The Russian delegation was led by Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov.

On 24 February 2022, an official meeting between Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Imran Khan was held in the Kremlin.
