Pakistani delegates paid a visit to the Mariinsky Palace

Today, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Governor Georgiy Poltavchenko and Chairman of the Legislative Assembly Vyacheslav Makarov met with Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Head of the National Assembly of Islamiс Republic of Pakistan, and the delegates of the Assembly.
The Governor noted that it is one of the the priorities for the government of St. Petersburg to establish international relations, also with Asian countries and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan (according to the official website of the city administration).
St.Petersburg-Pakistani economic, educational and humanitarian relations are in the course of development. Poltavchenko noted that the connection between the Chambers of Commerce of St. Petersburg and Pakistan is developing with success. In 2011, the St. Petersburg branch of the Business Council for Cooperation with Pakistan was created under the Chamber of Commerce. Poltavchenko named trade, public health and education as the most promising directions of cooperation with Pakistan. He spoke particularly about Pakistani students going to Russian universities.
In turn, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq noted that Pakistan is interested in developing cooperative relations with Russia and St.Petersburg, which includes strengthening trade relations and increasing the supply of Pakistani goods to the Northern Capital.
