Russia ready to participate in energy projects in Pakistan

Russian competencies can also be used for development of Pakistani oil and gas industry, Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said

Russia is ready to participate in upgrading hydropower plants and building thermal power plants in Pakistan and in deliveries of power equipment, Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said on Thursday at the bilateral intergovernmental commission meeting.

“The long-term experience of successful operations of Russia’s Power Machines, UEC and Technopromexport in the Asia-Pacific Region makes it possible to elaborate in detail the opportunity of participating in projects in the territory of Pakistan. First of all, this pertains to upgrade of hydropower plants, deliveries of power and gas transfer equipment, and construction of thermal, geothermal and solar power plants,” Manturov said.

Russian competencies can also be used for development of Pakistani oil and gas industry, the minister said. Russia is ready to supply SSJ-100 and MC-21 passenger jets with regard to civil aviation.

Trade turnover between Russia and Pakistan rose 22% in January – September 2017 and could be over $500 mln as of the year-end, Manturov added.
